Q1 is a great quick getaway - but I was surprised at just how "residential" it was. It is great though that all units are fully self contained and very modern, so you can purchase your own food and cook it in the room instead of going out.
I was disappointed with just how expensive the salon's and restaurants in the Q1 precinct were. I was also disappointed that guests of Q1 had to pay to go up to the observation deck.
Service was not spectacular and rather ordinary - something that I thought would have been plentiful at the world's tallest residential tower. It seems to me that this is the only thing that differentiates itself from other hotel offerings on the Gold Coast - a tall building.
EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED with the standard of service absolutely everywhere! No body working in Surfer's Paradise, Gold Coast seemed to give a damn about service which was just so very disappointing because it is such a beautiful place. Everything is so over the top crazy expensive that you wonder if you aren't paying for service - what exactly are you paying for? Cavill Mall looks like a bomb hit it with all the construction work that is going on. Do not be surprised to find that when you walk in to a Tavern, that really it is just a room full of pokies with a bar.
If I had to stay again, I would highly recommend that Northcliffe Surf Lifesaving Club - good value and great atmosphere!
We also managed to find a superb restaurant called Amalfi at Watermark. Outstanding service - absolutely incredible!
